Soccer Report

The match began at the hottest part of the afternoon, but spirits were high. The official soccer match between the Chinese and English program within the department of international relations kicked off at 2 p.m. on May 18th.  For 90 minutes, it was a show of skill, cooperation, and competition.  The athletes came from all over the world and all over China for that matter.  However, the solid purple and white jerseys gave everyone the look of uniformity, with a shared purpose: to score a goal!  This match was of particular significance for some of the athletes, those from Germany, because their home team was to compete later that night in the UEFA Championship game.  Some other players were to give their thesis defense in just a couple of days.  Everyone played their best, and the end result was a tie (7-7) between the Chinese program and the English Program. We hope that more events like this, where students from the two different programs can meet, work together as a team, and form friendships, take place in the upcoming semester!
