Developing Country Studies (DCS) Program Held the First Academic Activity in Autumn Semester

The first academic activity of Developing Country Studies (DCS) Program in autumn semester was held in the Room 315 of Mingzhai Building from 11:45 to 13:15 on September 16th.

Matt Ferchen, Associate Professor in Department Of International Relations, gave a presentation on his paper ‘Developmental States vs. State Capitalism: China’s Political Economy in Comparative East Asian Perspective’. He illustrated in-depth and in-breadth analysis and comparison between China and some other East Asian countries or areas including Japan, Korea and Tawain, etc., based on four different dimensions (International, Ideational, Institutional and Relational). The purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate the pivotal position of China in Developmental States and introduce some basic methodologies while doing the area studies and comparison studies.
