Developing Country Studies (DCS) Workshop held the 3rd academic activity for the Spring Semester, 2014

The 3nd academic activity of Developing Country Studies (DCS) Workshop, Tsinghua University was held in room 315, Mingzhai Building, in spring semester from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on 24 March 2014.

Li Yin, DSC doctoral student of grade 2013, gave a presentation on her paper “Post-colonial historical anthropology: a case study of the rapid conquest of South America”.

Li Yin first discussed the relationship between anthropologic methodologies and area studies and pointed out the importance of fieldwork and participant observation for area study researchers. Then she analyzed the reasons of the rapid conquest of South America from the emic and etic perspectives. 

Professor Zhang Chuanjie, Director of DCS Program, hosted the lecture, and 5 DCS doctoral students of the grade 2013, 3 DCS doctoral students of the grade 2014 participated.
