Developing Country Studies (DCS) Workshop held the 3rd academic activity for the Spring Semester, 2014

The 3rd academic activity of Developing Country Studies (DCS) Workshop, Tsinghua University was held in room 315, Mingzhai Building, in spring semester from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on 14 April 2014.

Yao Ying, DSC doctoral student of grade 2013, gave a presentation on her paper “Rohingya Issue In Myanmar: From a Religious Nationalism Perspective”.

Yao Ying first gave a general introduction of the Rohingya Muslims’ history and its development, pointing out the importance and sensitivity of this issue when the Myanmar government is making great efforts in democratic transition and opening up. She gave a tentative explanation to the occasional yet violent conflicts between the Buddhists and the Muslims from a religious nationalism perspective.

Professor Tang Xiaoyang from Department of International Relations hosted the lecture.
