Fu Ying is now the Vice-Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China’s 13th National People’s Congress. She is also the Chair of Academic Committee of the National Institute for Global Strategy (NIGS) of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Chairman of Center for International Strategy and Security, Tsinghua University.
Fu Ying joined China’s Foreign Service in 1978 and mainly engaged in Asian Affairs, including one year as China’s first civilian UN peacekeeper in Cambodia in 1992. She served successively as the Director and Counselor of the Foreign Ministry’s Asian Department from 1993 to 1997. She was appointed the Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia in 1997, China’s Ambassador to the Philippines in 1998, and head of the Foreign Ministry’s Asian Department in 2000. She was appointed the Chinese Ambassador to Australia in 2004 and later Ambassador to the United Kingdom in 2007. From 2009 to 2013, she served as a Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of European affairs and then Asian affairs.
From 2013 to 2017, she served as the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China’s 12th National People’s Congress.
傅莹,1978年进入中国外交部,曾长期参与亚洲事务,参加联合国在柬埔寨的维和工作(1992-1993),在外交部任亚洲司处长、参赞(1993-1997)等职。1997年出任驻印度尼西亚使馆公使衔参赞。1998年出任驻菲律宾大使。2000年出任外交部亚洲司司长。2004-2007年任驻澳大利亚大使。2007-2009年任驻英国大使。2009-2013年任外交部副部长,负责过欧洲和亚洲事务。2013年-2017年任第十二届全国人大外事委主任委员、第十二届全国人大第一至第五次会议新闻发言人。
